Review Kalafina’s Single: Hyakka Ryouran

Assalamu’alaikum... Konnichiwa..!! ^_^

Hello. I post Kalafina’s single review again! Hahahahaha.. Now I post the new released single, Hyakka Ryouran. This single was released on August 9th, 2017. This single consists of 6 tracks, 3 full songs, 2 instruments, and 1 song in TV size, and I just review the full songs and the music video. As long as I know, Kalafina releases new single as their song is used as the soundtrack of anime or another TV program. Well, like this one too which is used as the ending theme of anime Katsugeki Touken Ranbu. So, let’s check this out.

Hyakka Ryouran

This is the main song of this single that used as ending theme for Katsugeki Touken Ranbu. First time I listened to this song is when I watch the PV of Katsugeki used this song as background music. At first, I thought that this song is the second version of Parallel Heart song because the chorus sounds so similar, event the other fans called this song as Parallel Heart 2.0. After listened to the whole song, well, this song is pretty different with Parallel Heart eventhough the chorus is similar.

This song is so cool and beautiful. This song matches well with the anime. Sounds like the combination between ethnic, rock, and opera style. I love the sound of flute and drum in this song. The harmony is beautiful as usual, but unfortunately Wakana’s voice is rather weak, not as powerful as before. My favorite part in this song is the Kajiura-go, yeah, the Kajiuran part is sung by Remi. Hahahahahahaha...

The music video is cool too, Wakana is so beautiful here. She’s like a princess. \(>o<)/. The MV is in red and purple nuance, looks so magical. I like the costume style but I think that Hikaru’s costume would look better with skirt. I also think that the MV would look cooler if the actors from Tousute and Toumyu appear in it, or make another MV version with the Touken Danshi. :3

Kantankatan

The second track. This is my favorite track in this single. This song is so beautiful and calming. I love the strings in this song. In my opinion, this song sounds more ethnical than the Hyakka Ryouran. The harmony is better than Hayakka Ryouran, I think. Wakana’s vocal sounds better than in the previous one and matches so well with this song. I think that Wakana’s voice is very suitable ballad and mellow song. There is no Kajiura-go in this song. Overall, this song is the most beautiful in this single. Hahahahahaha... XD

Tonbo

The third track. At first I think this song is for Tonbokiri’s theme, but it’s not because of the word ‘Tonbo”, ahahahaha.. XD. This song has the same style with Haru wo Matsu from single Marchen. Kalafina just sing their own part, except Wakana’s part. Wakana has the least part and her part is harmonized by Keiko, but I think it’s the most beautiful part. This song is only accompanied by piano. This song is so calm and makes me sleepy when I listened to it. Very good as lullaby for those who have insomnia.... hahahahahaha.. XD *slap*  

Overall, in my opinion, this is the coolest single and my favorite too. Hahahaha.. because I like all songs in this single. Usually, there is one or two songs I don’t like in each Kalafina’s albums and singles, but in this single, I like the whole single. I don’t know why or how, but feels like there is something different in this single rather than the previous albums and singles. Well, good job Yuki Kajiura sensei and Kalafina. Ok, that’s all my review about Kalafina’s single Hyakka Ryouran.
